60's Film Fest!

As I have not spent much time with my mother and that my mum was born in the 1960s I though it would be fun to have a 60s film fest. I put my college work to one side today but I had my filmmakers cap on the whole time. I streamed  the films from the Internet and had a couple of them of DVD. The films I saw are below.

Help! – The second Beatles film, in colour, I have a huge Beatles fan so loved this even though it is my least fav film out of the ones they have done.

If… - A tale of rebellion in the public school system by 60s maverick director, Lindsay Anderson. I really liked this surreal film but my mum really was not fan as she is not one for abstractness.

Alfie – Michael Caine as the ultimate 60 misogynist who learns his lesson the hard way. I saw the remake recently but this one is by far the better of the two.
Yellow Submarine – Further Beatles adventures that embrace the psychedelic culture of the elate 60s wholeheartedly. Me and my mum both agreed that is was are most enjoyed film out of the 4 (I watched Performance on my own as she was tied)

Performance – The end of the 60s chronicled through the relationship of a washed up rock star (Mick Jagger) and a gangster on the run. I liked all the colours but to be honest I did not understand it at all even after my second viewing of it.

Tree and sky time-lapse

can also watch this on: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhso8w_tree-time_shortfilms

or the longer version: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xhso9o_tree-time-long_school

I have picked time-lapse photography for my FMP as it really interests me. I love the way that it shows something that would normally have a slow state-of-change and with the simple technique of speeding up shows it in a complete different way that I find truly fascinating. I wanted to show the sun set in the evening which would normally take hours so by making the process of viewing faster you get to see things in a way you would not see normally. If you was to watch the sun set in real-time like I did you would probably not see any change but viewing it speed up like this it becomes interesting.

I made this short time-lapse of the three and sky by having a stationary camera taking a single photograph every 30 seconds (using a build in setting on the camera). I left it taking photos until the cell ran up which was about 3 hours after stating. After I have all the 100s of stills I compressed them into a Quick Time movie using Final Cut Pro which made the time lapsing movie you can see here.

Other ideas I have in mind to time-lapse are:

a town center, clouds moving, water movment, ice melting, stop-motion, a plant growing, drawing a image, flower dieing and a sun-rise.
