Human Skateboard is a short 29 second stop motion film for Sneaux skateboarder shoes (http://www.sneauxshoes.com/) made by PES. It is about this “skater dude” who is on top of this other person who is lying on the floor pretending to be a skateboarded. With excellent sound effects of a skateboard skating and fluid movements he and his human skateboard skate around doing cool tricks. I looked at this short film as I hope to use a type of stop motion in my films and FMP.
My opinion of the use of stop motion and overall affect and style is that it was a very well thought out and planed short that delivers a outstanding idea with realistic sound effects which adds to how successful it is. The affect it has on you is “wow” as it makes you think how did they do that? Did it hurt? How was the sound done so well in sink? All great questions that I think are needed for a good stop motion as it shows it is an original, fresh and is impressive as it is not just a person skating normally, he is on a person skating. Also it is not just one location but 6 different ones. Lastly all the different camera angles make sure there is never a dull moment. It is griping, fun, existing, fascinating.
